A newb with a stupid problem

I am sure this can be fixed easy but I sure as heck don't know what it is... I have zmud 6.62 on my computer and am connecting to Sojourn3.org. When ever more than one line of text comes up the mud output flickers all the text on the screen. Is there anyway to stop this because it's really annoying and hard to follow what's going on...

I've never encountered this, but it sounds like you might need to adjust the Refresh Amount preference. It's in the User Interface (General) portion of the Preferences.

Try clicking on the little pistol icon to the right of the command line. This will disable all triggers. See if the flicker still happens.

Do you notice the flicker when not using ZMud?

tried 0 but still no luck but right now theres a problem with my muds server so I can't really judge till they fix they're issues (this issues were non-existant when I started this topic) but as soon as they're resolved I will check again to see what's happening

Perhaps try making a new char in zmud and not using any of the old settings and see if it still does it?
I know quite a few people that play there, and even with the problems going on atm, they still don't have this problem.

I am having the same exact problem, on a different server. Whenever zmud reads a large group of lines, like a who list or shop list, is flickers and slows down quite a bit. I have tried all of the above mentioned fixes, and none worked.

Any help would be appreciated

For all those experiencing this problem, please when you have a free moment and will not need what is in your scrollback press CTRL-Q. This causes 1000 lines of text to be displayed, and is used to test the scrolling speed of zMud. If the flickering you mention does not occur then the problem is likely in how your mud is breaking its packets. You might try getting in touch with your mud's coder. I don't recall which code base had it, but there was one that broke packets at each line or 100 characters (whichever came first). This is a poor fashion to do it as the arrival of a packet will interrupt most other proccesses, if the packets are out of sequence this would cause what you describe as zMud is being put on hold two or more times for each line.

No flickering or flashing occured when pressing CTRL-Q, it went through with no problem. I suppose then it is in the code of the Mud itself, though never before I updated to 6.6+ did it do this. Strange.

Thanks,
Darkmere

I've been having the same problem on duris, where I've never had the problem before and none of the other players I've talked to have it. Is there a way to change my settings to fix this? Besides turning off ansi I haven't found a way to get around it myself. Thanks for the help.
