zMUD - Zugg's MUD Client Copyright (C) 1995-1998 Zugg Software All Rights Reserved THIS FILE CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ZMUD COPY PROTECTION METHODS. PLEASE READ IT! LICENSE AGREEMENT This dialog will only be displayed the first time you use zMUD. You should carefully read the following terms and conditions before using this software. By clicking the Accept button below you indicate your acceptance of this license agreement and warranty. This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico and the United States of America. REGISTERED VERSION One registered copy of zMUD may either be used by a single person who uses the software personally on one or more computers. zMUD is registered to you as a person, and not to your computer. If zMUD is installed on a network, all users of zMUD must obtain an individual personal license for the software. You are prohibited from giving copies of your registration ID to others. Your registration ID is assigned to you as a person and can be tracked back to you. Protect your ID as you would protect a password. COPY PROTECTION zMUD contains advanced copyright protection. Attempts to modify the zMUD software, use an invalid registration code, or attempts to circumvent the copy protection can cause zMUD to stop functioning. In addition, such illegal activities may prevent the user from using zMUD or any future Zugg Software products in the future. To protect its copyright, zMUD sends your Registration ID and your Hard disk serial number in encrypted form to a registration server on the Internet which verifies that the registration information is correct. For unregistered users of zMUD, the number of execution trials remaining is sent and verified by the server. The Hard disk serial number, along with your IP address is used to uniquely identify your computer. No other information from your system is sent. This method of verifying registration and protecting copyright has been deemed reasonable and legal. If you do not wish this information sent to the Zugg Software server, do not accept this license agreement, and delete the zMUD software from your computer. SHAREWARE VERSION EVALUATION AND REGISTRATION This is not free software. You are hereby licensed to use this software for evaluation purposes for 30 executions. After running this program 30 times it will expire and stop functioning. In order to reactivate the software a registration fee is required. This software may be registered using the supplied REGISTER program, or via an SSL-enabled broswer from the zMUD web page at http://www.zuggsoft.com/. When payment is received, you will receive a user ID code that can be entered into the Register option in the Help menu of zMUD to register your copy. Alteration or patching of zMUD in order to bypass the 30-execution limit is a violation of U.S. and international copyright laws. Attempts to circumvent zMUD copy protection methods may cause you to lose your full 30 evaluations. There is no way to restore evaluations that are lost. Registration payments are handled by the Kagi registration service. See the file kagi.txt for more information on their service. Zugg Software does not receive any private payment information such as credit card numbers when you register. All such private data is retained by Kagi. DISTRIBUTION The Shareware version of zMUD may be freely distributed. You must include all files included in the distribution package. You are specifically prohibited from charging, or requesting donations, for any such copies, however made, and from distributing the software and/or documentation with other products without prior written permission of the zMUD author. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY THIS SOFTWARE AND THE ACCOMPANYING FILES ARE SOLD "AS IS" AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES AS TO PERFORMANCE OF MERCHANTABILITY OR ANY OTHER WARRANTIES WHETHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. Zugg software will not be held liable for any damage to your computer system or data files, or for any actions brought against you for using this software. The user must assume the entire risk of using this software. Users should be aware of any restrictions imposed by their network provider relating to MUD playing. Users must also take responsibility for restrictions imposed by any MUD they play relating to the use of client software such as zMUD.
