Zeus Component Reference

This document provides an overview of all visual components available in the core Zeus engine.

Introduction

Zeus components are normally created and modified using XML tags in the application's ZML layout file.  Each component tag can set the initial values of various properties.  Each component documented here will list the properties that can be modified.  The text portion of the tag will be assigned to a different default property depending upon the component.

Dynamic Components

Components can also be created "on-the-fly" within the scripting language itself.  Each component must have a "Parent" control.  Sometimes this is the main window itself, but sometimes you might want to create a component within another Panel or other control.  To create a new control, use the Add method of the parent control.  The Add method has the following syntax (in VBScript):

ParentName.Add "Name", "Type", Events

"Name" is the name you wish to refer to the new component with.  "Type" is the component type name, with "Tz" prepended to the beginning.  For example, to create an "Edit" component, use a type of "TzEdit".  The Events argument is True or False and determines whether Events are enabled for this new control.  The default if omitted is False.

For example, to create a new Edit component on the window called "Main" at a position of (0,10) with a default text value of "This is a test", the VBScript code would look like this:

Main.Add "MyEdit" "TzEdit"
MyEdit.Left = 0
MyEdit.Top = 10
MyEdit.Text = "This is a test"

Any property of any named component can be changed or accessed anywhere in your script.  All component names are Global object references.
