Guardian of the Golden Flame

For Esabel de Whiteford · Dragonsspine Baronial award (Feast of Fools, 5 Apr 2003)

Design

Late 14th century Italian, based upon The Visconti Hours. Inspired by the illuminated 'P' shown in LF89, the miniature within the 'P' has been replaced with a maiden embroidering in a tower. The portrait is of the recipient and depicts one of her beautiful cote-hardies.

Hand

Gothic, Drogin pg. 139. Unlike previous Gothic scrolls, the capitals used are Uncial Versals rather than the intricate French Gothic letters used previously.
